Who is Six Pence Song?
My name is James Scott Sanbar.
I was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, The United States of America (USA), at what is now The University of Michigan Medical Center in what was then called University Hospital on December 5th Anno DOMINI 1963.
After a few years in the Michigan area, our family moved to an army base where Fitzsimons Hospital was in Aurora, Colorado because my dad was drafted during the Vietnam war and sent there. After two years, he opted to go to Vietnam. He worked at the hospital in Danang. While he was in Vietnam, my father bought us a small house in El Reno, Oklahoma, my mother's home town, where we lived for a year.
Upon returning from Vietnam, my dad moved us to Northwest Oklahoma City where he bought us a house in 1970 adjacent to The City of Nichols Hills. My parents still live in that house. My father is 89, my mother is 85, and they are both still working and fully independent, actually able to drive, take care of their house and properties, businesses, and help their children and grandchildren rather than the other way around.
My stomping grounds in my youth were mostly the area in Northwest Oklahoma City which included The City of Oklahoma City, the small embedded fully incorporated cities of The City of Nichols Hills and The City of the Village, and a reservoir in Oklahoma City called Lake Hefner and its surrounding areas. I live in that area today.
I am on fire for Christ, and Christ is my All.
I am a Christian, a husband, a father, and a patriot.
My home church is Village Bible Church.
I am a strongly conservative, traditional, fundamentalist (with a lower case 'f'), Bible believing Christian who values biblical orthodoxy, holiness, temperance, and common sense in faith and life.
I am strongly conservative politically, but no politician or government saves us - only Christ. However, government and leaders are determined by God and very important.
I am proudly a native born citizen of the United States of America and a strong, traditional, constitutional originalist patriot. I believe the United States of America is the greatest nation of Christendom ever to grace earth.
I have been a Gideon since January 15 Anno DOMINI 2019. It is the most rewarding ministry I have ever done and an amazing and important organization, a group of businessman and professionals who have been serving since 1908 as hands and feet of Christ evangelizing the lost and giving out Bibles.
Our USA based global organization with active presence in around 200 countries is called The Gideons International. You may purchase very inexpensive small New Testaments with Psalms and Proverbs, translated into multiple languages to give to friends, family, or anyone you wish here. You may purchase electronic or paper greeting cards for a small fee through which you purchase Gideon Personal Witness Testaments (Gideon branded New Testaments with Psalms, Proverbs, and some helpful extras) in honor of someone special here.
I have been attending The Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Forth Worth, Texas remotely from Oklahoma City as a continuing education student auditing one class a semester as I have been able since the Fall semester 2018 for the knowledge and mentoring. Along with the Gideon ministry, seminary has been the most profoundly life changing and important thing I have ever done.
I am a retired software engineer and Information Technology professional in my early sixties.
I really enjoy biblical studies and languages, as well as linguistics in general (especially the English language and its history) and history of Christianity and other religions. Over time, I have found that studying biblical languages as I prayerfully study the Bible is the best way for me to learn both. I like to study not only the Bible but all the various disciplines that enhance my knowledge of it to deepen my faith and to help me grow in relationship with God and others.
I love to write and teach, and one day hope I will have the opportunity to materially contribute to biblical scholarship in a positive way as well as teach.
I believe that the only reasons God would leave Christians on earth after salvation are to evangelize the lost, do compassionate ministry, and grow and mature in faith, character, and Christlikeness. So, being able to do those things is my primary goal in seminary, as a Gideon, and in life.
My hobbies are studying the Bible and the many other disciplines which relate to, illuminate, and support that study; writing prose and poetry; listening to music; playing my instruments and singing; dining out; weight lifting for health, fitness, endurance, and strength; engaging with others in meaningful dialogue; and taking naps.
